About Durham Housing Authority (DHA)

Durham Housing Authority (DHA) strives to increase self-sufficiency of residents by providing them with an opportunity to develop specific strategies that will assist them in becoming more independent and breaking the cycle of poverty. DHA programs include HOPE VI, conventional housing and Section 8.

Additional Information

As of early 2018, the Housing Choice Voucher wait list is closed, so they are not accepting applications at this time. However, DHA plans to open its HCV wait list in the near future and you are welcome to apply at that time. DHA will advertise upcoming wait list openings on its website at http://www.durhamhousingauthority.org/, in the Herald Sun newspaper, and at several agencies throughout the Durham community. They are accepting applications for public housing, and more information about it can be found on their site.

The Mission of The Durham Housing Authority is to be a leader for affordable housing in Durham County by serving as a housing safety net, promoting individual self-sufficiency, leveraging core housing competency to support DHA's mission, managing real estate and facilitating and participating in mixed income housing development.
